I am crystal obsessed! Literally. I have crystals threw out my house because I'm one of those "crazy" people who are all about the energy they give off. My house is totally one awesome place radiating all sorts of fabulous energy! If you need some good vibes in your life. This is totally the place to come chill. My crystals have ya covered ;-)
The main two I have sitting on my mantle are a amethyst, which radiates peace & happiness and I also have a citrine, which is suppose to bring you lots of riches ($$$). I use to have a rose quartz, which radiates love sitting up on my mantle as well & it randomly broke one day :( since most of my friends think I'm a wack job with all my crystal energy beliefs, it was a joke for the longest time that since my Quartz broke I wasn't meant to have love in my life lol.... Jokes on all of you though because my daughter, Kitty Magic and hubby all love me, well I think they do anyway lol ;-)
So when the awesome people at Dr.Cool contacted me about doing a review I got all sorts of excited!!! My princess was going to be able to crack open her own crystals!!! Neatest thing ever if you ask me since we are all about sparkly things! Honestly what girl isn't?
This Starter Geode Kit Features
4 Real Geodes A pair of fabulous Safety Goggles as you see my princess modeling above!! The Kit Contains 2 Different Types of Geodes so that you can compare different crystal formations Full-Color Adventure guide explains all about how geodes were formed and lets you identify the crystals inside Activity booklet contains 10 wonderful puzzles and games for hours of extra fun and learning
And here is the fun part! Cracking these things open! We let Haylie attempt to crack them since technically this is her kit, but she's 3 and yeah.... It did make for some adorable pictures, but she was never going to crack these babies open lol... She did love trying though.
That's when hubby came in handy! After Haylie spent like 5 minutes wacking the geodes, hubby took the hammer and chisel (butter knife in our castle since we don't own a chisel) and cracked these things open! The directions say you can also put them in a sock and wack them with a hammer to open them, but doing it that way you're very likely to get a pile of sparkly crumbs. So butter knife chisel it was.
Ta Da!!!! And after a few minutes getting these things open, we now have pretty crystals :)
They came out wayyyy better than I thought they were considering our very first attempt, the geod kinda exploded and we got a lot of crumbs lol. I think hubby was just too rough with that one, thinking it was a rock and he had go to war with the thing, which you totally DON'T have to do lol... because the rest came out fanatic once he was wayyyy more gentle with them.
If you would like to check out Dr.Cool and possibly get your little princess or prince a geod kit, you can totally do so by clicking away at the link below!! So much fun. Your kids will love it :)

This would be a fun activity for the kids. It's better to give them toys where they'll learn a lot.

My husband's great grandfather was really into geology so we have buckets and buckets of geods just waiting to be cracked open. I had no idea it is so easy! I was crazy into crystals too, so I understand the obsession. I have a lot of amethyst and the biggest rose quartz I've ever seen (also from the husband's great grandfather).

That's so cool! Geodes are a ton of fun. It's so exciting to break open a plain looking rock and find beautiful crystals inside.

My daughter loved these kind of kits when she was little. When we moved to Iowa we started finding geodes all over the place, it was so neat to discover them and now every time I see a rock I am tempted to crack it open. I also have amethyst in my living room although it is not quite as big as yours, I want a bigger one now!

This would be a great activity to encourage learning in kids. They'd learn to be more caring about the environment. I'll be looking more into these Geodes!

Those do look pretty neat. I used to have a few crystals at home as well, though for different reasons. I wanted them for decoration.

This brings back so many wonderful memories. I had a b'day party for my son one year and we broke open geodes. The theme was construction and we broke open the "boulders." Love this!
