This might be one of the most simple yet fun treats I've made yet! My daughter out of nowhere decided that she no longer likes food. She has a list of about 5 things that she claims are the only things she will eat & she is sticking to it. I know they say kids will eventually eat when they get hungry, but my daughter omg! Craziness how long she will go not eating.
Then one day I stumbled upon a blog post saying to give picky eaters foods they can dip. Making food fun sometimes will encourage a kiddo to eat & bingo!!! It doesn't work every time, but dipping sure has helped!! My hubby gets mad because I will even let my daughter play with her food and paint her plate with it, but hey! I now have her somewhat eating again so I'm taking it as a win. Kids are messy anyway & she will eventually get sick of the plate painting & eat like a normal child once again.
One day on the search for dipping foods to let my daughter try, I found a video featuring a homemade version on these Cina-Sticks. Not being a baker, I totally simplified this recipe up and decided to cut steps 1-10 and just buy a can of cinnamon rolls and make sticks out of them. Who has time to make homemade dough? Not this mama. I totally turned a 2 hour recipe into a 20 minute one.
1 can of cinnamon rolls
frosting (the can should come with frosting, but buy more if you're a frosting lover)
oil to fry the cinnamon rolls with (I used deep fryer)
unroll your cinnamon rolls
cut your unrolled cinnamon rolls into three even pieces
Roll the cinnamon rolls into what my daughter refers to as "snakes"
Fry your sticks up! I used a deep fryer but you could totally fry with oil in a pan.
place on a paper towel after frying to catch all the leftover oil
mix a half cup of sugar and a few pinches of cinnamon in a bowl.
Roll your sticks in the sugar mix
And there you go!!! Cinna-Sticks! Easy to make and everyone including the picky one will love them!!!

We love cinnasticks here. I usually buy them pre-made but seeing how simple they are I might have the girls make their own this weekend.

Oh my, that certainly is a predicament with your daughter but it's wonderful that you made the perfect antidote for that! I like anything crispy brown and your cinna-sticks are perfect.

Dipping is definitely fun! Those do look good, but I just cannot let myself eat like that right now. It's already bikini season here. Lol.

These are fantastic. My family loves cinnamon buns so they this would be loving these! Made me hungry
Seriously, who wouldn't want to eat those?! My kids all go through the "I will not eat anything" stage...and it isn't pretty. I just try to make things they will definitely eat, and round out every meal with a green smoothie (which they actually love) so I feel ok about giving them pasta every meal :-)
5/6/2016 02:57:56 pm
Arg! Why do you tease me with the deliciousness! We have a no frying ban but I'm about to say screw it and make these!
