When I think of dedication to our family, one person comes to my mind. My Grandmother! She has always been my rock. That one person in my life that has always been there for me. Too busy? Never!!!! If I needed a shoulder to cry on, all I had to do was call up Grandma. She would literally drop everything to be their, show her support and comfort me. Even if all she was doing was passing me tissues.

My Grandmother has 5 children. My Mother being one of the youngest & the fact that my Grandparents were career oriented folks before deciding to start a family of their own, made my Grandparents the "older parents". By the time I graced the world with my presence, my Grandmother was pretty darn old, regardless of how young her soul may be. Most people my age, like my husband, have Grandparents in their 70's, my Grandmother is well into her 90's.

My Grandfather passed away right before I entered kindergarten. It was that moment that my Mother & her siblings promised my Grandmother that they would doing everything in their power to keep her out of a nursing home. Once my Grandmother started using a walker to move around, one of my Uncles moved into my Grandmothers home to make sure Grandma was safe and sound at all times.

Once you hit 90, you're living on a very tight budget regardless of how frugal you were with your retirement fund. Heck, once you hit 90, unless you were a Win for Life Lotto winner, you're lucky to have much of a savings left at all. That's a lot of years of spending regardless of how smart you were with your cash!

Since summer is in full swing in these parts!!! WooHoo for fabulous weather and sunshine!!!! My daughter and I decided to help the family out by taking a little financial strain off their shoulders & made a caregiving gift basket filled with everyday items my Grandmother actually needs.

To add a personal touch to my Grandmothers Elderly caregiving gift basket, my daughter and I thought it would be fun to get extra crafty with the "basket" part. We took a plain ole laundry basket and my daughter took yellow streamers and did a little weaving with them! She then made a sunshine using construction paper and her hand prints to tape to the basket since our theme was "Sending You a Little Box of Sunshine". A fun and easy peasy way to get your child into caregiving!

Tip!!!

So your Caregiving items can be on the top of the Elderly Caregiver Care Package, take a roll of wrapping paper and stuff the bottom! Then lay your items ontop :)
