I would like to thank our parter The Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce for making this post possible! One thing I miss about living in FL is all the nonstop action! People really know how to throw events & your social life was booming because of it! Just hop online and you would literally have to go eeny, meeny, miny, moe to choose what event your family would attend that evening. Here in WNY, things are definitely different. Fabulous, family friendly activities are few and far between! I will admit this area is getting better, huge pat on the back to all of those business owners trying to make our community a great place to raise a family, but we still need some work! And as in work, What I really mean is promotion and getting events seen! Too many times people aren't seeing events until after they happen, which is such a bummer because some of these events are top notch & deserve a large crowd! When I received the news about the Ellicottville Summer Music Festival or what locals call #SummerFest, I just had to help spread the word about this fabulousness! A weekend jam packed with fun ranging from a Rusted Root concert, to a fireworks show with the Buffalo Philharmonic, even a 38 Special show, this was definitely the type of weekend you would remember for years to come! Unfortunately due to scheduling & me not finding out about #SummerFest until a few days before, my family was only able to attend Saturday nights epic firework show with the Buffalo Philharmonic. Now that I'm in communication with Ellicottville, I hope to bring you more events before AND after they happen. If I'm going to live here I want to make this community great & use my voice and reach to help do so ;-) Are you a WNY local needing a little promotion help? Email me & let me help you spread the word! All of the shows during #SummerFest were held at Holiday Valley, yes as in the ski resort. They had a stage set up slopeside and seating was general admission. Think concert in the park feel with folding chairs & blankets. You could buy VIP tickets for the whole weekend & those seats were reserved in a roped off area with their very own lounge. I believe those tickets were going in the $300's, so those tickets are definitely for those devoted to the entire weekend! The best part about seeing ANY show at Holdiay Valley ANYTIME during the summer/fall is the fact you can bring your own drinks & snacks! Literally ANY drink too! I wasn't sure how loosely this rule was, so I poured my Parrot Bay into a mason jar, but discovered once I arrived that the mason jar was totally unnecessary as long as I kept things in my cooler ;-) Holiday Valley is one of a dying breed of concert venues that allow such a loose restriction on bringing items into a show so they do ask you to take home what you bring! Keep the resort liter free while respecting the resort and we will be able to enjoy this privilege for years to come! The Buffalo Philharmonic performed two sets of tunes with a super hero theme! Batman, Indiana Jones, Super Man, just to rattle of a few, so of course the performance attracted super hero fans alike! We were fortunate enough to run into a few of our favorite super heros in the crowd that had volunteered their time to come out and meet with the kiddos! My daughter couldn't get enough of Cat Woman & kept staring at her all night long! This was the first time for me being in the audience for the Buffalo Philharmonic & the former trumpet playing music geek inside of me couldn't get enough! For a small city, I was surprised on how well they sounded! I will definitely be driving up to Buffalo in the near future to listen to them play again. Maybe when they do their Abba Tribute show in the spring. Abba may be way before my time, but ever since seeing the musical Mama Mia, I'm hooked on Abba tunes! And of course the show came to an end around 9:30 & were were graced with a pretty spectacular fireworks show while the Buffalo Philharmonic played a little Susa! This was the first year my daughter actually acknowledged fireworks & was pretty excited for them, so they were a rad ending to an amazing evening! Just because #SummerFest has come to an end doesn't mean the fun in Ellicottville is over! Check out http://www.ellicottvilleny.com & take a peak at some of the upcoming festivities they have to offer your family! Jazz fest is just a few weeks away & who doesn't enjoy a concert at the gazebo? Taste of Ellicottville is also coming up in August! Lot's of fun for the whole family! Let's Chat!

It looks like things are picking up where you are. I agree that entertainment is different in all the many parts of the US; states with more sunny days tend to do more.
