Whether it's a baby shower or a diaper party invite, I feel
like hubby & I always have someone we're sending off baby goods to! My bank account might cringe at every invite, but I totally sigh in relief since I can get that "omg cute baby everything" out of my system while shopping for someone else's child & go on with my day as a one & done mama! With diaper parties being all the rage these days since they are a quick and easy solution to collect goodies without throwing a full out baby decor bash, I have been determined to at least make that 1000th pack of diapers the expecting parents receive a tad bit more exciting!
Diaper cakes are how I have been spicing up diaper parties! They are easy to make & are always a total hit! With fall practically here, I thought it would be fun to create a fall themed diaper cake! After all is there a girl out there that doesn't go completely go gaga over all things fall?
Supplies
• A large box of diapers! I suggest anything but newborn since everyone buys newborn & half those boxes end up being given away since the baby will outgrow them rather quickly!
•Thread or string to tie the diapers off with • Fall colored leaves & flowers • Pumpkin for a topper •Chunky ribbon to tie around the diaper cake
Roll up and tie off individual diapers. I use white thread so you can't see it, but even rubber bands or string would work!
Take your rolled up diapers & start placing them in a circular cake shape. Once you have enough diapers placed, take a piece of string and tie them all together.
Then take a piece of chunky ribbon and cover the string.
Repeat for top layer
Place your pumpkin topper ontop
Cut your flowers & leaves into individual pices.
Start sticking your flowers & leaves into the diaper cake.
And just like that you have a fall diaper cake! I'm the queen of crafting up easy peasyness that looks like you slaved away for hours creating, so trust me when I say anyone came make this! Plus it takes less than an hour to put together. Perfect for someone with a hecktic schedule.
If you're anything like me though, you might want to add a special something for the expecting mama!!! The "viral" hidden bottles of wine in the diaper cakes are always nice, but mama has to wait to drink that, so treat her to something she can enjoy today such as a copy of What to Expect® When You're Expecting. Now in a brand new 5th edition, with a fresh perspective, up-to-the-minute information and advice, it will make for one fabulous gift of baby knowledge! There is a reason it's been a bestseller for decades.
In addition to bringing Dad into the book throughout, it answers every imaginable question expecting parents could ask and offers solutions for every pregnancy and postpartum symptom! I know I was totally clueless on all things mommy life when I was preggo, so when one of my very own besties gave me a copy of What to Expect® When You're Expecting at my baby shower, I was pretty ecstatic to be a tad bit smarter when it came to all
things mommy!
My favorite thing about this newly released edition is the updated medical section! I may live in NY currently, but I'm a Florida gal & have many preggo friends literally freaking out about the Zika virus. What to Expect® When You're Expecting just happens to include everything expectant moms need to know about the Zika virus.
Another great section I enjoyed in the newly released edition of What to Expect® When You're Expecting was on birth control! If you're a regular here then I'm sure you have read my rants on being a one & done mama over on HuffPost, so to have updated info on birth control options is great for anyone expecting & knowing that this bundle of joy is it & how to keep it that way with the latest forms of contraception.

I agree about the larger size diapers. I usually use size 3, since the first two sizes are gone in an instant!

I have wanted to make a diaper cake about a thousand times, but I always stress about which brand of diapers I should use! And it seems like it would be time consuming, but I think that was just my tool for procrastinating.
