I don't know what it is about animal print, but omg! If I see it, especially leopard, it just HAS to be added to my wardrobe! I swear if you were to open either my daughter or I's closets, a whole litter of leopards would come pouncing out!
Rawrrrrr!
So of course when Harper Trend's contacted me about a collaboration, the second I laid eyes on this fabulousness, omg! It was it! THE MAXI DRESS!!! It was exactly what I wanted to feature and share with y'all. A little leopard does the body good after all ;-)
When the dress finally arrived it was totally what I was expecting!!! Great quality, not see thru or cheap feeling. A really high quality made maxi dress. Perfection if I don't say so myself. So with all this awesomeness going thru my head, I then got the brilliant idea to shoot with my daughter since all you bloggy fashionistas make it look so fab! I always wanted a Mommy/Haylie shoot & she definitely had some leopard to rock!
As you can see, my daughter, totally got camera shy! Which was odd since she has had professional photos taken before & this was just playing with mommy's camera. The even crazier part of it all was she didn't want to stop shooting. My hubby & I asked her a million times, but she was somehow having a ball even if her facial expressions said otherwise! She was so happy and proud of her pictures.
I think that we forget what a big deal things are to little ones. What was a simple snap a pic for the blog to me was something my almost 4 year old had never really done before in a staged/planned way. Sure I've snapped her pic, but I guess I never made a big production out of it until asking her to shoot this Maxi Dress with me. My blog is where "mommy's internet friends live", so this was huge to her since everyone was going to see her.
It totally melted my heart that even though she looked so scared, playing model really empowered her and made her feel great about herself! Playing dress up with me made her that more confident. The last thing I expected was a life lesson out of playing with clothes, but sometimes life's most valuable lessons come from the most random experiences. She already wants to do it again! The message behind the photos is more powerful than the totally staged perfection I had envisioned in my head.
So now that we got all deep and metaphorical let's talk Maxi Dress! And this $100 gift card giveaway!!!! Just click the links after the => and the links will take you to your final interwebs destination! Thank you for stopping by!
