Goulash is one of those recipes that I had always assumed every family has their own! I came from a family where we dined out most nights of the week. Things like Taco Bell were my "homey" comfort foods since my mom didn't cook & we even had a Goulash recipe!
Then one day my hubby and I got to talking food and meal planning. He mentioned that he had stumbled on a pasta recipe video on Facebook and it reminded him of his grandmothers Goulash since the lady that made the video used a can of broth to make her pasta! He then said how he never had Goulash at home
since is mom didn't make it & he was clueless on how to do it himself.
After 6+ years being together I realized that I had never made him Goulash! I have an awesome Goulash recipe and never broke it out since I just assumed everyone had plenty of Goulash growing up that one would never want it again! So I decided to make a giant pot of it!
In a large pot pour your ground beef, minced garlic and onion.
Add your broth & water. Mix well.
Toss in your tomatoes
Add your tomato sauce, salt, pepper, Adobo & Italian Seasoning and let simmer with the lid on for 15 minutes on low.
After 15 minutes, pour in your elbows, mix well, cover and let simmer on low for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes your elbows should be nice and soft!
Sprinkle in your mozzarella cheese and mix well.
Serve & enjoy!!!

It looks just like the kind my mom always made, but around here we call it chop suey :)
This is very interesting as it is completely different to what we call Gulasch here in Austria or in nearby Hungary. It is made completely different so I am interested in trying this recipe and even showing it to friends to see what they think of this style of Gulasch.

This is not the Prague goulash! Goulash in Europe is completely different (and fabulous) than what most of us from North America grew up having for dinners. Different...not as savory as European goulash, and more acidic from the overload of tomoato sauce, but it is much loved. But....*real* goulash from eastern Europe cannot be beat!

Sometimes it is the nostalgic things that taste even better. This looks so good and who doesn't love comfort food? I'm saving this recipe for later. We used to eat warmed up goulash on hotdogs when we were kids. Thanks for the memories!

I love making meals for the family that remind me of my childhood. It's a good way to let them experience what I did when I was their age. I think this goulash recipe is delightful.

I have not tried goulash with elbow macaroni. I have eaten beef goulash always. I could try to make this recipe someday.

Interesting goulash recipe! It's very, very different from the traditional goulash of Central European origin that's consumed here in Europe. But I am so loving this with the mince and the macaroni! And cheese. Because cheese makes everything better!

This looks so good. We make a similar dish throughout the month. Love how you paired it with cheesy garlic bread. I'll have to try that next time.

Yep - I grew up on old fashioned goulash. I don't remember what was in it, but we had it often. Your recipe is something my hubby would really enjoy - thank you :)

I literally ate tons of this when I was in the Army in the late 80's and swore I would never eat it again when I got out. It took a couple years for me to miss it and now I have it at least once a month.

Do you know that all these years I referred to this dish as elbow pasta? Pretty much every week my mom made this and she called it spaghetti. I use to ask her - mom, are we having the elbor pasta or the string one..haha. Looks good.

This took me straight back to my childhood. My great grandmother made my sister and I this dish every thanksgiving. We weren't too fond of turkey until we were much older. Ah, the memories!

My mother used to make this exact same thing once every couple of weeks. Even though I eat all of those ingredients, I being the picky child that I am would always refuse to eat goulash! Looking today though, I'd totally eat it. hehe.

So easy to prepare, I will add more cheese too. Double the cheese and less meat. As the kids will enjoy much more.
