I get it! PokemonGo is totally lame & for kids! It's also tied to the CIA, FBI & all the crazy stalkers of the world are going to be breaking down my door because I downloaded the app!!! Normally I'm the tin foil hat wearing gal in the group & would be 100% on board with all you haters. For the first 5 hours after hearing of PokemonGo's existence I actually was & called all of you Pokemon lovers sheep for ignoring the real issues going on in this country. Our nation is going down the crapper & people rather chase cartoon characters around town than deal with real issues. But then it happened. Curiosity got the best of me! I downloaded PokemonGo! And you know what? I liked what I saw! After I caught my first Bulbaur in my living room, I was intrigued. It was a total blast from the past & brought me back to a simpler time in life. My pink Nintendo was probably the equivalent to a child's cellphone today & I had a blast playing Pokemon on that thing! I just had to show my daughter PokemonGo so she could hopefully have those same happy memories as I did years past. After a very long giggle fest when Haylie saw her first few Pokemon, she was just as hooked as I was. We just had to catch em all! TOGETHER! 1. FitBit? So Last Week! Obviously it's a no brainier that this game has you moving & burning all those unwanted calories! I'm sure anyone with a Twitter account has even eyeballed various versions of the "Michelle Obama Who" tweets refering to the fact PokemonGo will potentially end childhood obesity faster than her program. I hate to say it, but it's true! My daughter & I try to go on daily walks, but they get boring. The same old walk loses it's luster after awhile. Not even my FitBit could make that walk exciting. PokemonGo now has us off our butts 24/7 adding endless excitement to those walks! Sure, to you haters it sounds pathetic, but I think it's pretty rad. If it takes catching Pokemon to get kids & even this mama moving, then so be it! I will have to thank the creators of PokemonGo for my perfectly toned legs & for getting my daughter of the couch, willingly, this summer! 2. No More "I'm Bored" Lets's be honest here. After the first week (ok day) of summer vacation excitement, life went back to normal. Those first few days of waking up with a big ole smile, ready to take on that summer bucket list turned into a bunch of "I'm bored"s on repeat & you counting the days until that awesome yellow bus would cart your kid back to school! PokemonGo has given my daughter & I something new to bond over. When your mom is a blogger, craft time isn't a special treat, it happens daily, & one can only swim in the pool so much without that whole "drowning" fear, so PokemonGo has giving us another fun option for summer fun! We can even repeat a few of our favorite summer activities in hopes of catching a rare Pokemon or two. Heck, hitting up playgrounds we have been to a thousand times now sounds super appealing & like the best idea ever! 3. Early Bedtime Yes, you read that correctly! All that walking & Pokemon catching is tiring! Since downloading this amazing app, I have had to force my daughter to stay awake long enough for her not to wake at the crack of dawn! Early Haylie night night time = early wine time for this mama! Heck, all this Pokemon catching even has me worn out to the point I'm wondering where my insomnia went since I've actually gotten real sleep this week! 4. Making Friends! I have called my current neighborhood home for over two years now & have talked to my fellow neighbors more in the past few days than I have in all the years living here! I honestly thought I hated my neighborhood before realizing my neighbors are just as big of dorks as Haylie & I with their love for Pokemon! I even know the people down the roads names now. Young, old, rich, poor, PokemonGo is bringing people together! As dorky as it sounds, maybe PokemonGo really is the answer to world peace? Who has time for violence, hate & crime when you have Pokemon to catch ;-) 5. Creating Memories Yes, I'm going there! Just call me a geeky sap!!! PokemonGo is helping create sweet memories. Who needs a million dollar world cruise when you can create just as sweet of memories in your very back yard? I know, I'm a world traveler so this might be a stretch, but still, the memories my daughter & I have created over the past few days will be something we remember forever! Do you remember when pogs were cool? Or Tamagotchis? PokemonGo will be the epic childhood game our kids joke about years to come. Long story short, make those dorky memories epic for them! Wanna join in on the fun & catch em all? You can download PokemonGo for free in the App Store & from the Google Play Store

I heard on the news this morning that this game has surpassed Candy Crush in the app stores! Amazing. My grandson is playing it while on vacation.

My daughter downloaded Pokemon Go so she would get mor exercise. I think it's a neat way to get kids outside. Plus, a lot of the PokeStops are at historic sites. When you're walking with your kids and they stop at a PokeStop that is a historic site or landmark, it's a great chance to tell them about the history and stories behind the place.

My kids and my husband are so into this game. My youngest has confiscated my phone since she doesn't have one yet for her own Pokemon Go. We did it all along our road trip this weekend. It definitely wore them out!

While I'm still not sure I will ever download this game, I think the technology is pretty cool. I've waiting to see Augmented Reality put in to more use, and if this game gets people moving out and about, I'm all for it.

Totally not interested in this pokemon game. I want my kids outside more and playing and getting exercise but not on phones or anything! We'll continue our walks and trips to the park, but I won't be downloading. My oldest is waiting for it to hit Canada, and iPhone so he can check out all the fun.

I am so with you--we need to have a distraction in this crazy crazy world. So be it if its staring down at your phone chasing something virtual--we need to take a break from all the hating/ dividing going on in the world and hopefully this will make people kinder and more friendly towards others!

ALL I've heard about in the past (almost) week is Pokemon Go haha! Pokemon was in my childhood, but I don't have any interest in playing this time around - these are great points though! As long as kids are safe about it - too many accidents already!

There's no doubt that it's a hit with the kids and the parents as well, actually, with anyone! It brings back the gentle years when Pokemon was the trend. It's definitely here to stay so why not just enjoy the perks, right?

My only complaint is that there are already people figuring out ways to cause harm to others playing this game. In St. Louis a ring was busted who were luring people in and then robbing them. Good grief!

Pokemon GO! Has taken off around here where I live. I guess that's pretty much the story nationwide, though. I am not a big Pokemon fan, but to those who are I say, play away!

I actually think it is great that everyone is up and going, but the lack of attention and the boredom being solved by technology is concerning. I've seen kids walking with their heads down everywhere and it's scary for drivers!

We went to the park tonight to eat our dinner; my son and husband have been playing PokemonGo ... and I kid you not, at least 60% of the people at the park were all playing. We could NOT believe how many people had phones out, were talking about the Pokemon they'd caught, and how they were out walking. And, these folks didn't go to the park together, they were just out playing and started talking to new people. I was blown away.

I've been seeing a lot of this in my feed lately and I never understood how it works - until reading this post. So thanks for that! I think the whole point is that you and your daughter has a new thing to bond over with. This seems like fun - but I'm afraid to get 'hooked' like you both. xx

A game my daddy friend doesn't like his kids to play as he finds it dangerous. For him, it may cause accidents as youre all glued on your cellphone screen and you might bump or meet an accident. I love it that you find something positive about the game. Honestly, havent seen this app yet.

Okay, so I haven’t allowed my daughter to get into the Pokemon Go craze because I’ve been trying to sit back, analyze, and decide if I really want to give her more screen time. Maybe we will let her give it a try this weekend with some rules. Maybe it would allow her to make some new friends and have some new fun!
