My daughter has been in speech therapy since she was 19 months old. I tend to keep this type of thing off any of my blog related pages. Not out of shame, but because honestly I'm the last person who should be giving advice or really any info about this type of thing. I would fear a newbie coming across my page and taking what I say as gospel and OMG!! Worst nightmare right there. I will just save these topics for all you mamas that actually do know the right advice to give & have the correct answers since I would be lying if I were to say my answers don't come straight from Dr.Google ;-) I will stick to rambling about my food, fashion & makeup. If you know me in real, non-interwebs life, you know I have very mixed feeling about the NYS Early Intervention Program. Here in NY kids get services in the home. Which don't get me wrong, I totally get some kiddos have behavior issues that would interfere with services outside of the home, but in this case having speech in our home just doesn't work that well for my daughter. It's her home and being a toddler, she has a princess, I rule this house complex, so when it comes time to sit. Hahahaha.... Some days that's just not going to happen and she will walk away and grab whatever toy it is she wants. She's an only child, yes she's spoiled, yes I know that's partially my fault, but you know what? Take her out of the home and she sits & listens. It's not her home & she knows she's no longer the boss. Kinda proving that maybe speech would be 100 times better in an office where my daughter has to listen to someone else & be out of her comfort zone so she listens. Unfortunately that's never going to happen, so we do the best with this whole therapy in the home thing. Afew weeks ago I saw this Wiggle Seat up for review on Tomoson. It was also a free, just for product review, which I don't usually do, but I don't know.... When I saw this, the whole concept just kind of amazed me so I didn't even hesitate to click that apply button. It was the first time seeing such a thing and if it really does what it says... Omg totally worth the blog shoutout. What is a wiggle seat? Let me copy & paste what the company says since they know how to word things better than me. Wiggle seats have become popular with teachers and parents alike for their ability to calm the hyperactive child. Many parents have found wiggle seats to be a life saver during dinner and homework time. While teachers love them for the calming effect they can have on children, many even report improved behavior for ADHD and autistic children. Besides the positive effects on behavior these discs have all the same benefits of sitting on a balance ball, activating the stomach muscles while sitting leading to better posture and less back strain from prolonged sitting. If this sounds like what you are looking for, the Wiggle Seat by Sensory Solutions is a cost effective answer to your needs. It is easy to change the inflation level with any ball or tire pump, personalizing it to the needs of your child. One side has small bumps while the other side has longer raised nubs allowing you the flexibility to choose for your child's tactile needs. Features - Adjustable inflation level with included pump - 13" x 13" x 3" size perfect for a small child's seat, while being big enough to grow with your child - Activates intrinsic trunk muscles to encourage active sitting and support the spine - Helps keep your child calm and focused during school or meal time The verdict? Hehehe... Pardon the pajamas, non-staged pics, this is as real as you can get for such a review. When the mailman delivered the package early one morning, I instantly opened it up and gave it to my daughter. And this is what she did with it... Literally laid on the thing all morning like it was some strange, spikey yoga ball. At one point she was even using it as a pillow, but by the time I grabbed my phone to snap a pic, she had changed positions lol....I instantly thought to myself OMG! Of course the one time I take a freebie review, it's going to be a total bust! But boy was I wrong! Her speech teacher came later that afternoon and when she walked in was like omg!!! You got Haylie a seat?!?! She was pretty excited. And then told me how great they are for kiddos. At that point I did get kind of frustrated because if it really is some sort of miracle worker why didn't you ever tell me about it -_- Same thing happened awhile ago with iPads. Once we realized my daughter could use an iPad to help her with speech with programs like Go Talk Now & Proloqou, she got one! I guess therapist probably don't want you to feel obligated to buy things, but to me, if it's a benefit to my daughters education, no questions asked! Money may not exactly grown on trees, but I will make whatever it is happen! Anyway, her speech teacher used the iPad to kind of bribe Haylie to use the seat correctly and bingo! Now my daughter uses it correctly and I wouldn't say it's a miracle worker, but totally worth every penny! My child definitely focuses better using it. And will sit in one spot for longer periods of time. Which was exactly what I was hoping for! My daughter just had her very last day of early intervention yesterday, and the past few weeks were probably way more successful because of the use of this seat. Wish I would of discovered it along time ago instead of the last month of services ever lol. If you would like more info or maybe want to order your child one definitely don't hesitate to click away at the link below and check Wiggle Seat out on Amazon! And parents to boys, don't worry, your son doesn't have to have a pink seat. They come in amillion other fabulous colors.

My youngest was in early intervention until he aged out at 3 for a speech delay. We then put him in private therapy for another year. I think he might have adhd (or one of those), but we're still trying to work with the school to get him tested. This seat would have been perfect for him when he was your daughter's age.

It's okay to stay clear of things that you don't want to talk about. You're just doing your job as a parent. The seat looks effective!

This is a VERY neat product, and I love that it's budget-friendly, too. I see a lot of kids with tons of energy at work who have a hard time sitting still. This would probably be a great tool for many of them!

This looks like a cool seat. It is amazing how something so simple will make a difference. I wish I had this when my older son was little. He has ADHD and sitting still was so difficult for him. He is now 14 and can somewhat manage it.

I love that you shared this! Not for the Wiggle Seat, because I don't need it. And not for the advice, because my kids don't have an issue like this. I love it because you shared something. Sometimes, the best article is the most personal, even when you aren't an expert. It's just that connection and sharing that's so great.

I personally believe these "things" should be shared so other moms in the same situation can somehow relate at have a support of some sort. I realized this when my daughter was in a different situation. Anyway, I know at least three close friends whose kids have needs as well. I am going to tell them about this product, who knows, they might have a great experience using this product for their kids too. :)

When our son was 15 months old, he was talking yet so we were worried about it but the doctor said that whe he's ready, he will talk and she was right. Now my sin can''t stop talking, he loves to talk! Love that wiggle seat!

I was a special ed teacher for three years and I always loved when students had these written into their goals. I definitely feel like it helps with wiggly kids and I think it is great that your speech therapist is using it! I enjoyed reading a motherhood post from you. I know you said you're not an expert on the subject, but you did a great job talking about this topic :)

Sounds like something that would be great for my son. He had speech for two years and I'm so thankful NYS does it at home as we didn't and still don't have a car so getting there would have been a nightmare.

I have twin nieces that are starting school and I think this seat would be great for them. They are not used to sitting still for longer periods of time and I think this could help the transition.
