So the worst thing EVER happened to me!!!!! Like literally the worst!!! I woke up the other morning to a tooth gone. Yeah gone, as in not there anymore! And no, not some tooth in the back of my mouth that you can't notice.... Like a tooth that if I smile big enough I would legit look like a cast member from the Beverly Hillbillies!! Like how does this even happen?!?! It's like someone pulled a tooth while I was sleeping because there is no evidence of it ever being in my mouth. Just one giant hole where the tooth use to be. So not Trophy WifeStylish what so ever!
The strange thing was I wasn't in any pain. For having a perfectly straight & sparkly white smile I sure have had loads of dental work done in my life. My smile might of looked like a 10 before the missing tooth, but the insides of my teeth... Ughhhh.... Root canals, cavities, you name it I've probably had it done. Teeth genetics in my family = horribleness. With having gone threw so many teeth issues in the past, I also knew that usually when anything funky is going on in your mouth, that means you are in dying pain. This was all just so bazaar to me.
So being the ridiculously busy person that takes on more work than she can handle, I decided to suck it up and go on with life looking like a Beverly Hillbilly... I would eventually get a chance to sit down and call the dentist about rebuilding a tooth, but first I had loads of work to accomplish since it was a Friday.
Then Saturday morning... Bam! I knew this whole tooth not hurting was some sorta glitch in the universe. I woke up to the biggest tooth abscess I have ever seen! It was beyond disgusting & my mouth was throbbing. I couldn't even close my mouth all the way without wanting to scream. I recently had a friend pass away, so of course with death being so fresh in my mind I go into panic mode! According to the internet you can die from an abscess tooth if it pops and you swallow the grossness so omg I could "possibly die".
Now looking back I will admit I was kinda acting like a lunatic. How many people have actually died this way? I'm sure it happens, but realistically this was probably not going to happen to me. My mouth was pretty bad though. I definitely needed a prescription for antibiotics, but it was a Saturday? Living in a small town no dentist are open weekend. Hell, it's even hard to get into one on a weekday here! What to do? My hubby suggested Urgent Care or the ER, but Ughhh.... Even with insurance do you know how expensive those places are?!? Bye bye new camera I was saving for!
Then all of a sudden I remembered I had accepted a gig to review Armwell, the nation’s largest telehealth online doctor service! That's right, I could see a doctor anytime, 24/7 on my iPhone or iPad! I had planned on talking to a dietitian about toddler nutrition since my daughter has been beyond picky when it comes to eating lately & then sharing the info I got with y'all. I even had some of my post already written & what questions I was going to ask, but heck tossing the nutrition idea for a real life medical emergency just seemed like the more logical thing to, plus I wasn't going to have to spend my camera money ;-)
Have a question to ask a doctor? Get the care you need quickly - typical issues include:
• Bronchitis • Cough • Sinus infection • Sore throat • Urinary tract infection • Vomiting • Diarrhea • Fever • Pinkeye • Flu • Sprains and strains • Cold • Respiratory infection • Headache • Depression • Anxiety • Weight concerns • Smoking cessation Amwell is only $49 a visit. Cheaper than a copay! So I downloaded the Amwell app and decided to give it a try since I had a freebie coupon.
It was pretty simple set up too! I just answered afew simple questions like name address ect and I was all registered to use the app! And thankfully my state of NY was on the list of states allowing RX via the interwebs, so I could totally get my prescription of antibiotics at the end of my appointment.
Now came the interesting part! What kind of doctor do I even see? I was kinda shocked when I saw that Amwell had this kind of selection to choose from. I was very impressed. Since obviously my issue was a dental one and dentist wasn't on the list, I went with medical.
When I clicked the medical link I was impressed once again! They had two medical doctors available. Usually I always go with the female option, I'm just more comfy talking anything with females, but then I saw the guy doctor had a medical degree from Yale! Maybe it's just the inner nerd in me but like that is amazing! So I decided I would wait the two people ahead of me to see him since this would probably be the only time I ever get seen by a Doctor with an Ivy degree!
After clicking the "I'll wait" button the app asked me who the appointment was for & what pharmacy I would like to pick up any prescriptions from. & then I literally just waited for my phone to go off when the doctor was finished with the two people infront of me.
I feel bad because I didn't get a screenshot of my actual appointment with the Doctor. Not going to lie, the introvert, socially awkward girl kinda came out the second I saw the Doctor of the screen, so I was a tad bit nervous. I had no reason to be nervous though because all I did was open my mouth when the doctor said "so it says here you have an abscess".... & after a 10 second lecture on how I need to call a dentist on Monday to make sure nothing like this happens again, I had my self a prescription to get this nasty thing out of my mouth! I'm sure for most people your appointments will be more in depth since you have to actually describe symptoms, but for me I had something you can physically see wrong so there was no denying what was wrong with me. You can't fake or miss diagnosis an abscess! After my visit my hubby went to the Rite Aid down the street to pick up the prescription the doctor wrote & about a day later the abscess was gone! Amwell & this Yale Doctor totally saved my life ;-) I will forever be using this service!! So quick, so easy & the best part... I don't have to lug my toddler anywhere.
So the next time you are in need of quality health care on a weekend or in the middle of the night, be sure to check in at Amwell. You will find that you can avoid high fees, wait room times, hours spent on travel to the doctor’s office and have access to quick prescriptions. In addition, Amwell is offering all The Trophy WifeStyle readers their first visit free by using the code, BEWELL2.
Save money. Save time. Save yourself. See A Doctor Now—On Us. You better write that code down because it is flu season. Who knows when that free visit could come in handy ;-) you might have a weekend medical emergency like I did! ***Compensation was provided by Amwell via MomTrends.
