One of the things I'm obsessed with in life is my house! For where I live, I couldn't be more happy with my mini castle. From the chandeliers hanging from the ceilings to my fabulous, Pinterest-worthy kitchen, I couldn't be more happy! Unfortunately, our home does have that one eye sore. Our Laundry Room.
Half of our basement is finished and hubby turned that space into a "man cave". The second half, your typical dark basement. That unfinished second half is also where the laundry hookups are. So yes, the Pinterest-Worthy house you see plastered all over my social accounts, has a fault. The dark and depressing laundry room.
I know having a basement laundry room will never be my "dream" laundry room situation, but that won't stop me from trying! Below you will find a few ideas on how you too can make your unfinished basement laundry room a tad bit more fab!
Since we are talking laundry, let me tell you about a new favorite of mine before jumping into my unfinished basement laundry room ideas!
Have you ever worked out so hard that your clothes just straight up stink afterwards? Maybe you were enjoying a fire with the family and now your favorite hoodie smells like smoke? I'm sure you're going to want to wear that outfit again real soon, so adding Purex Crystals to your laundry load might just do the trick and keep those gross, lingering smells away for good!
Purex Crystals provide a great scent at a great price! So I always make sure I have a few bottles of Purex Crystals 12 Weeks of Freshness in my laundry room.
My favorite scents right now?
Purex® Crystals Aromatherapy: Tahitian Breeze: “Escape on a sun kissed breeze to a tropical oasis where exotic flowers blend with essential oils to infuse your laundry with a touch of paradise.” and Purex® Crystals NEW Botanicals: Warm Sandalwood & Vanilla: “Bring the finishing touch on your laundry with a blend of Warm Sandalwood & Vanilla. The natral mineral based formula, without dyes and with essential oils, delivers long lasting freshness.”
Ready for some phenomenal news?!?! Purex Crystals are now on Rollback at your local Walmart ! So when your doing your grocery shopping this week, head on over to the laundry aisle and toss a bottle or two of Purex Crystals into your cart! At these prices how can you resist?!
The first thing I did was purchase a Indoor/outdoor rug. Our basement has never had any flooding issues, (knock on wood it stays that way) but to be safe, I made sure the rug I picked up was made of a plastic material, just in case it were to ever get wet.
I then took a folding table and covered it with a table cloth so I now had an area to fold laundry.
Another chic unfinished basement laundry room option is taking a pitcher and poring your laundry detergent into it.
I think using a pitcher for your detergent is a great option for unfinished basement laundry rooms since it gets rid of that plastic bottle! When you have plastic bottles laying around a dark room like a basement, the bottles look like garbage. The pitchers just give off a cleaner, more chic look!
The next unfinished basement laundry room project I embarked on was a DIY Dyer Lint bin.
Supplies to make your own Plastic Cereal Bin Spray Paint Fake Flower Glue Letter Stickers
Spray paint the top of the plastic cereal bin and color you choose.
Glue the flower onto the freshly painted top.
Stick your letters onto the cereal bin.
Too spruce up the wall behind the washer and dryer, I then went on the hunt for a cute wall decal! I think I found a funny one. My daughter couldn't stop laughing when I told her what it said.
The last thing I did was cover that ugly basement window with a blind. I wanted to hang a curtain, but I was clueless on how to drill into concrete. They make blinds that stick to surfaces, no hammer or nails necessary. So I totally lucked out with a window covering option without having to take out the tools and ask google how one accomplishes such a task.

Our washer and dryer are just in the basement, not even in their own room. I would LOVE to spruce up the area a little.

I really love the lint container you made. I just put a small trash can beside my dryer but this is way cuter and more creative.

Amazing decals! My laundry room is too boring (white walls and no accessory at all). I'll definitely give this a try.

Living alone helps me to gain OCD in my house :) i want it to be always tidy even my laundry area. But no matter how i try to tidy up my workroom, still it motivates me to write having those stacks of magazines next to me.

The dampness of the basement is one of its unique characteristics which makes it a central space for refurbishing and total renovation. One of the common spaces setup in the basement would be a laundry room.
